Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD)

Mr Thomas Sim was re-appointed to serve in ACCORD – Employer & Business (E&B) for a two-year term till 24 August 2022. It serves as a forum for better engagement of the business community on National Service issues, as well as to strengthen collaboration between the community and MINDEF/SAF. The council which comprises leaders from different sectors of the business community, reflects the strong support from employers and businesses for National Service (NS).

Collaborative efforts are explored between ACCORD and TLA to increase NSmen’s awareness of the logistics industry, create re-learning and upskilling opportunities in the logistics industry for all NSmen.

Plans are afoot to launch a number of initiatives in Year 2021 between ACCORD and The Logistics Academy:

  • To extend member course fee rate to NSmen (self-sponsored) / NSmen from NS Mark (Gold) Companies (company-sponsored) for the Diploma in International Freight Management, Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management, Certificate in Logistics Management and ICC Incoterms 2020.

  • NSmen having completed the latter two courses will be awarded with Specialist Certificate in Logistics Management, to be issued jointly by SLA and ACCORD.

  • Sharing on logistics landscape, employment opportunities and organise site visits to give NSmen insights into the logistics sector.

  • Explore other certifications.
